September 202104 September 2021 So today the rootlings came out of the ground and tomorrow we will prepare and plant them with fingers crossed that they survive. 13 September 2021 So after spending a few days crouched over planting and then watering in the rootlings we have the job done. Then it was time to re string the wires to hold the watering/feeding system, bait the snails and get the first spray of the vines done. The vines we pruned are all showing new leaves and the rootlings are showing everything from nothing to new buds to nice juicy leaves, and all just in time as it's only a week or so before we leave here. Mission accomplished! 21 September 2021 With the main projects in the vineyard completed we left with mixed feelings today. Sad to be leaving our almost permanent home and happy to be headed back out onto the road again, even if it is only for a week or so. The grain harvest is on again and we are headed to Bruce Rock for our 7th harvest there. But in the meantime we are taking a few days to float around the wheatbelt and acclimatise to the hotter weather before heading into Perth to see family and friends for a few days. While there we will also store our winter gear and pick up our summer gear before heading back out into the wheatbelt for this years harvest.
Next Page Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will. |
